emmaus walk bulletin: 23 Feb

Dear Walkers,

Hope you had a blessed Ash Wednesday! This marks the beginning of the Lenten journey. If you are feeling miserable about the sacrifices you have pledged yourself to do for Lent, hre are some words from Fr William Goh in his reflection for Thursday after Ash Wednesday:

"... if we were to carry out this Lenten program blindly without understanding the goal of such Lenten exercises, then Lent would become burdensome, making life rather drab and colourless. No wonder, many people have a negative attitude towards Lent because it seems that Lent makes life miserable for us and takes the joy out of living.

However such an attitude is totally against the Spirit of Lent. Lent, as we know, is a spring festival. Lent is the beginning of new life. The whole focus of Lent is that we start by finding life, and we hope that at the end of the season we would find the fullness of life. Life, then, is the real focus of Lent. This was what Moses offered to the people, “See, today I set before you life and prosperity, death and disaster.” This is the ultimate reason for the celebration of this season. As such, the scripture readings of today speak about life. This season is thus an invitation for us to choose life, not death. If this season does not make us more alive, then we have misconstrued the purpose of this whole celebration."

This Sunday
We take a break as Ben Tan and friends present "Be(Loved)", a monthly Eucharistic Adoration session. Come and join us for a time of, well, adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, and spend some real quality time with Jesus.

Date: Sunday 26 Feb
Time: 7pm (please note, not the usual EW timing of 7:30pm)
Venue: Prayer Room (A1-3)

If you have any intentions to be prayed for, do drop an email at belovednbvm@gmail.com. All confidentiality will be observed, and even if you are not coming the session, you still can submit your intention ya? Don't be shy!

For more on Eucharistic Adoration, see an inspiring Youtube clip below, that appeared on EWTN Global Catholic Television Network: EWTN live on 4 Jan 2012. It featured Fr Mitch Pacwa, S.J. and Sr Briege McKenna sharing her first-hand accounts of modern-day Eucharistic miracles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae9bDGH8s_0&feature=player_embedded

Also, personal adoration versus communal adoration is addressed here: http://rcspiritualdirection.com/blog/tags/benediction

Hope to see you there!
