emmaus walk bulletin: 30 December (the last one for 2010!)

Dear all Walkers,

Apologies
i am sorry for the flood of emails regarding the New Year Day party. There is some lack of email ettiquette going on (do not hit 'reply all' unless there is a real need to!), but i have tried to address the problem and you should not get subsequent correspondence on this, if you have not said that you're going.

To make up for the inconvenience caused, here's a good one:

Jesus and Satan were having an ongoing argument about who managed to get the most out of his computer. This had been going on for days and God was tired of hearing all of the bickering. God said, "Cool it. I am going to set up a test that will run two hours and I will judge who does the better job." So down they sat at the keyboards and typed away. They moused away.
They did spreadsheets,
They wrote reports.
They sent faxes.
They sent out e-mail.
They sent out e-mail with attachments.
They downloaded.
They did some genealogy reports.
They made cards.
They did every known job.

But just a few minutes before the two hours were up lightening flashed across the sky. The thunder rolled and the rains came down hard. And of course the electricity went off.
Satan was upset. He fumed and fussed and he ranted and raved, all to no avail. The electricity stayed off. But after a bit the rains stopped and the electricity came back on.
Satan screamed, "I lost it all when the power went off. What am I going to do? What happened to Jesus' work?"
Jesus just sat and smiled. Again Satan asked about the work that Jesus had done. As Jesus turned his computer back on the screen glowed and when he pushed "print," it was all there.
"How did he do it?" Satan asked.
God smiled and said, "Jesus Saves."

This Sunday in CG
This Sunday marks our first CG for 2011! The theme is "Revealing Jesus to the World", the Sunday being Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord. The wise men travelled great distances and overcame great difficulty to reveal the infant Jesus as king and Saviour of the world. How do we, in our daily lives, reveal Jesus to others as Lord of our lives? Let us reflect together in CG on Sunday!

Announcements
1) End-Year Retreat 2011
Yes, we are already recruiting! If you have been touched by EYR 2010 and wish to pay it forward, there's no better way than to join the EYR 2011 committee! Please pray about it, and then look for either Elaine or me to register your calling.

2) Cell Group Facilitators
A facilitator's job is to distribute sharing time evenly and maintain a safe, conducive sharing environment for everyone in the group. If you feel called to be a facilitator, do let your current facils know and they'll take it from there.

3) Breadrun
Thank you all for your support when we passed the bag around last Sunday. The breadrunners raised $300 and bought 40 blankets to hand out to those in need. Dwayne and gang will be sending out a statement on the funds used so you can be assured all the money is put to good use. Do look out for the Breadrun team's email next week!

OK that is all from me, have a blessed week ahead!

In His Love
