emmaus walk bulletin: 20 October

Dear all Walkers,

Midweek is always a good time to sit back and catch a breather, and ponder on the mysteries of life. Such as the following:

St Francis of Assisi received a command from God to rebuilt His church, so he gathered some brothers to go about this. As they were about lay the final stone, a red army tank appeared from nowhere and fired at the church, destroying it completely with just a few shots. Francis was taken aback, but he was determined to carry out God's will, so he rounded up more brothers to rebuild the church, and at a quicker rate too. As they were about to lay the finishing touches, the red army tank appeared once again and blew the building to pieces. Francis was getting a bit annoyed now, but he knew he had to carry out God's will, so he gathered yet more followers and stoically set about rebuilding the church, and making it even grander this time. Just when Francis was about to invite the Bishop to consecrate the church, what should appear again but the red army tank, and it once again destroyed the beautiful building. Francis was extremely miffed now, and summoned his green army tank, and the green army tank took out the red army tank with just 1 shot. What is the moral of this story? (answer at the end of the email)

Last Sunday in CG
We began our series on the Holy Spirit, with our guest speaker Natalie from SACCRE. She spoke about the institutional gifts of the Holy Spirit (Fearof the Lord, Piety, Knowledge, Understanding, Counsel, Wisdom and Fortitude), and her personal encounters with the Holy Spirit in various settings and circumstances. Who is the Holy Spirit to you? How has He spoken to you, or worked through situations around you to bring God's mesage to you?

This Sunday in CG
We continue with the theme "Freedom in the Holy Spirit". Having reflected on who the Holy Spirit is to us, we now try to understand what it means to be free in the Holy Spirit. Join us as we welcome another guest speaker, Gerard for this session!

Announcements
1) End-Year Retreat (Malacca, 18-22 Dec)
We still need facilitators for EYR. if you are free to attend the EYR, why not consider being a facilitator for our young people who will be attending, and be an instrument for God to touch their lives? Contact Isis or Jerry to sign up as facilitators!

2) Confirmation Camp (4-7 Nov)
Prayers are requested for all the confirmands as they take their final step towards the Sacrament of Confirmation. All 69 of them need your prayers for this beginning of a long journey ahead!

Ok that's all from me, have a good rest of the week, and hope to see you all at CG on Sunday!

In His Love,
barry
for Emmaus Walk

P.S. the moral of the story is: the green army tank is more powerful than the red army tank.
