emmaus walk bulletin: 14 october

Dear all Walkers,

There was once a writing class in a university, and for the final exam, the students were supposed to write a short story containing the themes of religion, royalty, sex and mystery. Most of the students churned out pages of creavity, but the only one that got an A went like this: "Good Lord!" said the Queen, "I'm pregnant! I wonder who did it?"

Last Sunday in CG
It was our AA batteries, Adeline and Amanda again, who continued their round-up of their series on Love, because God's love cannot be contained to one session. St. Paul's great discourse on Love (1 Cor 13) mentioned so many characteristics of Love, but what does it really mean to us? How do we apply these notions of Love to our lives? We reflected on St. Paul's letter to Galatians (Gal 5: 1-14, 16.26) and about aspects of our lives where we found it challenging to love others.

We also had a special sharing by Sury, from SACCRE, on the presence of the Holy Spirit in today's world and God is really present through his Advocate. He also shared with us a video on Damian Stayne, a powerful charismatic healer from Cor et Lumen Christi Community (more info can be found at http://www.coretlumenchristi.org/). And this is in preparation for our next series on the Holy Spirit!

This Week in CG
We begin a special series on The Holy Spirit, with our sessions presented by speakers from SACCRE. The topics are as follow:

17/10 - Who is the Spirit?
24/10 - Freedom in the Spirit
31/10 - Sacrament of Reconciliation
7/11 - Outpouring
14/11 - Gifts of the Spirit
21/11 - Mission (Aligning our Desires with the Will of God)

Please do try to make it for the entire series! Learn about who the Holy Spirit really is, His place in your life and how He can help you live in today's world! We rarely get a chance to hear from external speakers, so this is a great opportunity. I understand that some of you have many things going on like school and stuff, but i believe if you can commit this time to God, and allow Him to speak to you through His servants, it will definitely not be time wasted.

In other announcements,
1) Confirmation Camp
Prayers are requested for all 69 participants, the facilitators and the entire organising group. May God bless their efforts and may they have a very empowering time at this camp!

2) EYR Prayer hour
will NOT be held this week as the EYR committee will be having a meeting. Do join us next week at 3.45pm in the Prayer Room!

Ok that is all from me, see you on Sunday for our very special sessions!

In His Love,
barry
