emmaus walk bulletin: 2 Sep

Dear all Walkers,

It's September! Two-thirds of the year have gone by, and if you have not started working hard to get onto the "Nice" list, or at least get off the "Naughty" list, it is time to start planning!

A bear and a rabbit are taking a dump in the forest. The bear asks the rabbit if it minds getting poo on its fur. The rabbit says no. So... (see bottom)

Last Sunday in CG
We wrapped up our series on "Finding Your Treasure" by reflecting on Luke 14: 1, 7-14. Two points: 1) Are we too concerned with exalting ourselves and selecting 'seats of honour' for ourselves in the feast of life? Do we recognise our lowliness as human beings and that exaltation and honour are conferred by God on us? 2) In the metaphorical feasts we throw, do we only invite those who can return the favour? Are our kindness, compassion and love reserved for those who can repay what we give out? Do we give due consideration to Jesus' favourite groups of people - the poor, crippled, lame, blind?

"Where our treasure is, there also our hearts will be". Let us look to the example of Mother Mary, who treasured all the right things in her heart, and pondered upon them.

This Sunday in CG
Join us for more reflection and fellowship! Same time, same place.

If you are not sure how to discern your vocation (single, religious, married, etc etc) and you do not wish to leave the rest of your life up to the toss of a coin (or a die), the nice people at SFX Major Seminary will be holding a Discernment Tools Workshop (for both young men and women), details are as follow:

Dates: Sat 09 Oct - Sun 10 Oct
Time: 9am - 5pm (stay-out programme)
Venue: St Francis Xavier Major Seminary
The Man: Father Ignatius Huan, Spiritual Director of SFXMS
Cost: $25 (student rate) / $40 (register by 25 Sep) / $50 (register after 25 Sep)

Please click here for more details!

Finally, Social Gathering is on tonight, and since we normally do what Sebby wants to do, we are headed to COMEX! Meet Sebby at 7pm at Suntec, but if you do not wish to squeeze through the crowds, meet up after that for dinner and to share the spoils of his efforts!

And that is all from me, see you on Sunday for CG!

In His Love,
barry

P.S. ... the bear picks up the rabbit and wipes its bottom with it...
