emmaus walk bulletin: Aug 27

Dear all Walkers,

We've made it through to the end of the week! Or almost. Friday is the time to wind down and start to catch a breather if you've had a busy week. And here's a question to get your weekend started:

A small monkey is trapped on a small island with nothing but a coconut tree for company. One day there is a huge storm and the water level starts to rise. The monkey climbs the tree to avoid the water, but the level continues rising. The monkey is now trapped on the top of the tree as the water levels continue to rise, and it is unable to swim. What should it do? (Answer at the end...)

Last Sunday in CG
We reflected on how Jesus masterfully skirts the question of how many will be saved, and redirects the focus on what one needs to do personally to be saved. Oftentimes we are too concerned with the wrong questions and not mindful of what is important, i.e. our personal spiritual development and the need to strive for 'the narrow door'.

This Sunday in CG
Jesus takes a meal at the Pharisee's house, and people observe him to see what he does. Join us as we reflect on his words in Luke 14:1, 7-14. This is our last installment in our series on "Finding Your Treasure"!

In other news...
1) Eucharistic Adoration for Young Adults at Church of St Ignatius (CSI)

This takes place tonight (Fri 27 Aug) from 8:00-9:30pm. Meet Ben Tan at 6:30pm at Nativity Church if you want to go together, or meet at CSI itself. Spend some time ebfore the Blessed Scrament and encounter Jesus in a very special way!

2) Parish Feast Day Stall
Once again, if you hae any ideas for the stall that you wish to contribute, do contact Kenneth or Elaine and share your talents! Also, we will need help with organising and the stores. Help'tch if you can!

3) Bread Run
Happens every Wednesday, 9pm onwards. Can't say enough about this one, so just show up and help if you can! Look out for the email by Dwayne or Trudy on Mondays.

Also, our brother Mark Chia is now REC Mark Chia and doing his bit for this country, so do pray for his well-being!

Ok that's all from me, see you all on Sunday!

In His Love,
barry

P.S. The answer is, if a big monkey like you cannot figure out what to do, how can a small monkey figure it out???
