Dear all Walkers,
Hope you all had a restful long weekend! On the occasion of our nation's 45th birthday, let us give thanks to God for what we have achieved so far and pray for our government to develop more 'heart', that places more emphasis on social justice and human dignity. Oftentimes, measures which should be implemented, for example, safe ferrying of foreign workers from dorm to work, are not pushed through due to concerns on impact on business costs etc. Singapore will be a much better society if we truly care for our fellow human beings and not reduce everything to a matter of dollars and cents.
On a lighter note, everytime you get this email, it means the weekend is nearing! And another respite from the relentless race of life. A man was arguing with his wife one morning about who should make the coffee every morning. They had reached an impasse, and the man wasn't winning this one, so he got exasperated and said, "Show me proof in the Bible that a man should make the coffee, and i will do it from now on!" So his wife reached for her Bible, and pointed to... (answer at the end of the email)
Last Sunday in CG
We started a new theme "Finding Your Treasure". Last week's reflection on Luke 12:32-48, gave us a few insights. First, if we do not place God as our treasure, our hearts will not seek Him. Second, are we living our lives in anticipation of God's coming, or are we going to get caught off-guard or sleeping? Finally, for all the blessings we have received, we will be expected to share them with others and do more for the people around us.
This Sunday in CG
As the feast of the Assumption falls on Sunday, we continue with a reflection on Mary and where she placed her treasure in her life. Do come and join us!
