emmaus walk bulletin: 3 Mar

Dear all Walkers!

If you went for the bread run, i hope you had a blessed time! And manage to stay awake at work...

Question: Imagine a hungry tiger is running after you. What do you do?
Answer: Stop imagining.

Last Sunday in CG
(Matt 6: 1-6, 16-18). We reflected on the three pillars of Lent - prayer, fasting and almsgiving - and on our intentions in carrying them out. Jesus used the equivalent of "when you pray... when you fast... when you give alms..." and not "if", which means it's not really an option and that on our Christian journey, we should perform these 3 pillars, and particularly in Lent.

In Pope Benedict XVI's Lenten reflection on fasting (2009), he linked the hunger for food to solidarity with the poor, and gives us something in common with the people we give alms to. In his Lenten reflection on almsgiving (2008), he exhorts us to an inner conversion to love of God and neighbour. Almsgiving is also a means of seeking forgiveness for our own sins (1 Peter 4:8)

In other words, we do not pray, fast or give alms in isolation to the people around us. Our actions affect the people around us, and our own hearts. Take heed not to fast from certain things for the sake of fasting!

This Sunday in CG
Our topic for this Sunday is "Sin and Temptation". Do come and join us!
