Dear all Walkers,
We have survived mid-week! The road to mid-week is like a roller-coaster car climbing slowly up and nearly not making it to the top, but it finally does and now we're gonna surge towards the weekend, where we meet again for CG! Meanwhile, i picked up a book in Popular and would like to share some of its gems with you...
"Babylon was similar to Egypt because of the differences they had apart from each other. Egypt, for example, had only Egyptians, but Babylon had Summarians, Acadians and Canadians, just to name a few."
"The history of the Jewish people begins with Abraham, Isaac and their twelve children. Judyism was the first monolithic religion. it has one big God named "Yahoo". Old Testament profits include Moses, Amy and Confucius, who believed in Fidel Piety. (One of the only reasons Confucius was born was because of a Chinese tradition.)"
"Moses was told by Jesus Christ to lead the people out of Egypt ino the Sahaira Desert. The Book of Exodus describes this trip and the amazing things that happened on it, including the Ten Commandments, various special effects, and the building of the Suez Canal."
"Forty centuries later they arrived in Canada. This was the promise land of milk and chocolate. Noah's ark came to its end near Mt. Arafat. David was a fictional character in the Bible who fought with Gilgamesh while wearing a sling. He pleased the people and saved them from attacks by the Philipines."

Last Sunday in CG
Our reflection was on the Baptism of the Lord. Jesus was baptised because that was the right thing to do. His baptism marked the start of his ministry, and he began it with 40 days of fasting and prayer in the desert. Similarly, our baptism marks the beginning of our task to make God known to others. At baptism we are already empowered with the Holy Spirit to carry out God's work. Recall your baptismal promises. What is one area of your life that requires you to "reject Satan"? What is God calling you to do for this year? What do you require to carry this out?
This Sunday in CG
As we enter Ordinary Time, the Gospel reminds us that Christ is the Lamb of God. What does this mean for us? Come join us in reflection!
Prayer Requests
For Adeline's father, Greg and Gary's father and their families to cope with difficult times of illness.
For Dwayne's grandmother who passed away on Sunday, and his family. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
Announcements
1) Project Sunshine (29 Jan, whole day)
In collaboration with SSVP (Society of St Vincent de Paul), we will be helping to clean the houses of some needy people who are unable to do very much themselves due to their circumstances. This is in preparation for Chinese New Year too. We need manpower to help with this project. If you are free on this day, please reply to this email add (and please DON'T click on "reply all") and let me know. We have 2 houses on the cards so far, and how many houses we clean depends on how many people we can gather. DO reply quickly so that we can finalise the number of houses soon. If you can't help the whole day but can do either morning or afternoon, you're welcome too. Every bit of help goes a long way!
2) EYR 2011 committee
Come and join the organising committee and help make EYR 2011 a special time of renewal and revival for our youths! Please let Elaine or me know. We will be calling for a meeting in mid-February for all interested.
3) 40-hour Eucharistic Adoration (Corpus Christi Weekend)
This will be organised under the auspices of Youth Council, but Ben and Jerry can't do it all by themselves, or they'll end up like ice cream under the sun: all melted! Do let them know if you would like to help rganise this event that united the entire parish in 40 hours of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
Ok that's all from me this week, see you on Sunday!
In His love
