Dear all Walkers,
Have you heard about Paul the German octopus? He predicted Germany's results in the World Cup correctly, including the losses to Serbia and, just last night, Spain. The Germans' hopes have ended and now, apparently, they have turned against him and suggested he be "fried, barbequed or turned into a seafood salad or paella."
Singaporeans would never do such a thing, they would keep the octopus well-fed so they can bet more accurately on future results!
Last Week in CG
Our theme for this month is "Christian Service". This is a fitting link-up with last month where we reflected on our purpose, self-awareness, reasons for being involved in EW and so on. Reflection must result in action, and this month we see how we are enabled and empowered by God to act.
Our reading was Sunday's Gospel passage, Luke 10: 1-12, 17-20. There is a harvest out there, people waiting for someone to bring the Word of God to them. We are called to be the labourers to bring in this harvest. How prepared are we? What are the 'money bags' and 'sacks' in our lives that we need to get rid of and not bring along? Only when we carry out this mission, can we experience the joy of the Holy Spirit.
Parting verse: "Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers - not because you must, but because you are wiling, as God wants you to be, not greedy for money, but eager to serve." (1 Peter 5:2)
This Week in CG
We reflect on the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and what Christian service entails. Do join us!
