Today is Ash Wednesday, and we officially begin Lent with fasting and abstinence. What does fasting really mean for a Christian? For a reflection on this, click here http://www.saltandlighttv.org/
There are many exciting things coming u, and i'm really excited to share them with you!
1) CG resumes this Sunday!
Those of you having withdrawal symptoms, you can stop shaking and start cheering!
Our Lent series of CGs are as follow:
21/2 - Introduction to Lent: The Big Picture
28/2 - The three pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving
7/3 - Sin and Temptation
14/3 - Reconciliation / renewal
21/3 - Suffering in the World
28/3 - The Passion of Christ
3/4 - Easter Sunday!
Do join us as we journey together as a community through this period of reflection and preparation for the Paschal Triduum!
2) Helping to sort out and pack donations for the Tana River Life Foundation (A-Wing 2 - Study Room)
The remaining dates on the packing schedule are as follow:
Thur 18 Feb from 10am to 7pm
Fri 19 Feb from 8.30am to 12.30pm
I guess the timings are not very good for working people, but if you are free (e.g. students who have no lessons on Fridays, hurhurhur), why not come and lend a hand? All you need to do is to show up and ask, "How can I help?" and you will be assigned something to do. If you wish to help in other ways or find out more, contact Gabriel Teo at 92230222. If you hear a strange accent, it's Eddy Addison, the Kenyan guy accompanying Gabriel on this trip back to Singapore and Malaysia to source for donations and raise awareness.
For more information on Tana River Life Foundation, click here http://www.
3) Bread Run (Wed 24 Feb, 8.30pm - 1am)
Gabriel Patrick is organising a bread run where bread shops will be visited and unsold bread collected to be distributed later in the night to homeless people. If you can help (either by collecting or by driving or both), contact him at 98808694.
4) Workshop on Christian Meditation (Sat 27 Feb & Sun 28 Feb)
"Learn to leave self behind in the discipline of Christian Meditation: a way of dying with Christ and rising to new life in Him". For more information, see attached file.
This week's social gathering: Dinner @ Vivocity, 7.30pm onwards. Post-dinner activities: negotiable with Sebby. Contact him at 90262289 if you are going for it!
OK that is all, i'll see you lovely people at this Sunday's CG!
In His Love,
