Ash Wednesday :)

Dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a period of prayer and preparation for the greatest miracle ever told in all of humanity's history! :)

As a personal Lent project, I would like to challenge myself to do a daily reflection for this season and to share my thoughts with you :P  If you would like to opt out of my rambly spamming, pls reply me and let me remove you from the mailing list. :) If not, then you'd hopefully receive an email a day from me for the next 40 days wahaha!!

Today's reading from Morning Prayer is beautiful, and I would like to share it with you. :)

"The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. It is because the Lord loves you, and is keeping the oath which he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps convenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations." -Deut 7:6, 8-9

"It is because the Lord loves you." I forget about that sometimes, cos it's mentioned so often that i've kinda taken it for granted. Our God is an awesomely steadfast, powerful, never-let-you-down God! whee~! As we go forward today to claim our mortality (with the remembrance of ashes), I would also like to leave you with psalm 146:3-5.

Do not put your trust in princes,
   in mortals, in whom there is no help.
When their breath departs, they return to the earth;
   on that very day their plans perish.
Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
   whose hope is in the Lord their God...
