on Tana River Life Foundation

Hi all Walkers,

Last Sunday we had Gabriel Teo, a friend of Fr Henry's, and his team share with us about his charity foundation in Kenya, the Tana River Life Foundation. He also talked about how he searched for what God was calling him to do and said that "you may not know for sure if what you are doing is what God wants you to do, but you will definitely know if what you are doing is NOT what God wants you to do."

He has been volunteering there full-time since 1995, and set up a charity foundation in 2005 to better carry out his works. You can get more information by clicking here.

Together with Eddy, one of the locals he is serving, Gabriel is in Singapore (and Malaysia) for 2 months to source for donations in cash and kind, and has gotten together lots of things. Thing is, they need help packing. Kenyans can run really fast, but they pack clothes and shoes the same rate as other normal human beings :)

Currently the goods are stored at the study room (A-Wing 2) and awaiting sorting out. i dropped by on Wednesday for about an hour to help out with the packing, and at the end of the session this is what has been packed so far:

This is what remains to be packed:

As you can see, there is a huge load of stuff that remains unpacked. They need help! Here's another picture...

The helpers were people who came from various places: Gabriel's friend's friends, people who heard about his cause and just offered some time to help. They are not even necessarily Catholics, and most of them are not from Nativity.

Ash Wednesday starts this Wednesday, and we have an opportunity to begin our Lenten journey in a very concrete and meaningful way. Would you take up this opportunity to help?

Gabriel and Eddy are tkaing a CNY break, but they will resume packing on the following days:

Wed 17 Feb from 3pm to 7pm
Thur 18 Feb from 10am to 7pm
Fri 19 Feb from 8.30am to 12.30pm

Please come and help if you can, especially if you are schooling and it is a short day or free day for you. The work is not tough, but need some time and manpower. Do consider if you have the time!

Meanwhile, have a very blessed and happy Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day and whatever else you may be celebrating! Rest well for the long weekend!

In His Love,
barry
