Last Sunday, we reflected on the parable of the generous land-owner (Matt 20:1-16). The workers who were hired at the first hour were envious of the landowner's generosity, and were unhappy about getting the same pay as those hired at the eleventh hour. They failed to see that they had already gotten a fair wage for an honest day's work, and felt they were entitled to more, in comparison to the last group.
Do we have a sense of entitlement when we do God's work? For those of us who have served in a ministry for a long time, do we feel that we deserve more recognition than those who recently joined?
God loves us all the same, no more, no less. He wants everyone to share in His blessings and grace to the full. There is no seniority or hierarchy in receiving graces.
This Sunday, EW will not be at the usual time. Instead, we will be attending the Celebrate Jesus youth forum. There will be praise and worship, testimonies from our youth leaders, a sharing and dialogue session, evening Mass, and dinner at the canteen. This forum is important for us to find out how to steer EW and all the youth ministries in the right direction. Do come and share your views, and help contribute to making a difference among the youths!
