You know how the weather has been really screwy last few days? Really hot for most of the day, and then a heavy storm in the afternoon.
So our annual cross-country run was scheduled for today. Speculation had been rife since last week about whether it would rain and a popular topic over lunch was how cancellation plans would be carried out (what if it rains at 1? At 2? At 3? At 4, just after we flag off the runners? Etc.) I suppose some teachers were hoping it would be cancelled too.
So this morning, Brother declares at morning assembly, "If God is good, it will not rain." I immediately thought to myself, "Wah. If it rains, then jialat liao..."
There was a dark cloud hovering faraway in the sky just after flag-off. It got nearer and nearer as the afternoon went on. But it didn't rain during the run. It didn't rain for another 20 minutes after that. Brother then made the call to postpone the prize-giving and send everyone home. The skies opened 15 minutes after that, when most of the students were out of there and after we had packed up the logistics stuff.
I don't think I'll ever find out if Brother was being casual, or he really meant what he said in the morning (mostly cos I'm not about to go up to him and ask him and look like an idiot). But I think for Lent, maybe just for Lent, I will be less cynical about how God works, and have a little more faith in Him.
