Hi Walkers,

There was a talk in school organised by Legion of Mary in the evening. The topic was "Mary and her role in the Church". The speaker was Bro Emmanuel.

There are two things i would like to share here (cut me some slack if you already knew #1 ok, specially those who have been in Legion :p).

1) We talk about Mary being the "mediatrix of all graces", and we understand that prayer to Mary doesn't mean asking her to grant things, but asking her to intercede with her Son for us. i've always been clear on this point. However, after hearing what Brother Emmanuel had to say, i've gained a new perspective.

What do we mean by "to Jesus through Mary"? Mary shows us how to handle Jesus in our lives. She is the way to Jesus, not only in terms of interceding for us when we have petitions, she is also the way to Jesus in the sense of, she shows us how to be true and faithful disciples of Jesus, herself being the perfect example of a disciple.

2) i only managed to attend the last 15 minutes. i wasn't planning to attend at all. The talk was from 5.30-6.30 but i had left school around 4.30pm to get my bike fixed as my IU was spoilt. However, after reaching VICOM at Sin Ming close to 5pm, they said they were closing and asked me to come back tomorrow. i had a dinner appointment with some friends at 8 at Rafles Place, so i had planned to meet them after getting the IU fixed. Now i was too early, so i bought some files at AMK Hub and went back to school to file things and tidy up my desk to kill the time. In the staffroom, i then met a colleague who had just finished lessons at 6.10, and he said he was going to catch the talk even though there was just 20 minutes left. i continued tidying up my desk,but after a while, i thought, what the heck, i'll go check it out too. And so i did, and then i gained a new perspective about the idea of Mary and Jesus.

i don't know why God calls me in such ways. i wasn't interested in the talk and hadn't planned to attend, and yet things unfolded in such a way that i ended up being there for the last bit anyway. Furthermore i'm actually in a spiritual rut currently. It's not really of serious concern insofar as i'm still around and not like contemplating leaving Church or anything close to that, but it's a rut nevertheless.

i think in such times He calls even louder, but i'm not really listening. So He just devises such a flow of events so that i'll end up exactly where He wants me to, and learn something.

um, if any of the above didn't make sense, well, please excuse me. i'm not sure i've been coherent or organised, but if you remember some of my sharings then you know that i sometimes jump here and there and my sharing may not really link.
